The Gambino crime family (pronounced [ɡamˈbiːno]) is one of the "Five Families" that dominates organized crime activities in New York City, United States, within the nationwide criminal phenomenon known as the Mafia (or Cosa Nostra). The group, which went through three bosses between 1910 and 1957, is named after Carlo Gambino, boss of the family at the time of the McClellan hearings in 1963, when the structure of organized crime first gained public attention. The group's operations extend from New York and the eastern seaboard to California. Its illicit activities include labor and construction racketeering, gambling, loansharking, extortion, money laundering, prostitution,[4] fraud, hijacking, pier thefts[clarification needed], and fencing. The family was one of the five families that were founded in New York after the Castellammarese War of 1931. For most of the next quarter-century, it was a minor player in organized crime. Its most prominent member during this time was its underboss Albert Anastasia, who rose to infamy as the operating head of the underworld's enforcement arm, Murder, Inc. He remained a power even after Murder, Inc. was smashed in the late 1940s, and took over his family in 1951—by all accounts, after murdering the family's founder Vincent Mangano. The Gambino crime family (pronounced [ɡamˈbiːno]) is one of the "Five Families" that dominates organized crime activities in New York City, United States, within the nationwide criminal phenomenon known as the Mafia (or Cosa Nostra). The group's operations extend from New York and the eastern seaboard to California. Its illicit activities include labor and construction racketeering, gambling, loansharking, extortion, money laundering, prostitution, fraud, hijacking, pier thefts, and fencing. In 1930, the Castellammarese War started between Masseria and Salvatore Maranzano, the new leader of Cola Schirò's Castellammarese gang, for control of Italian-American organized crime in New York. Mineo was a casualty; he and Ferrigno were shot dead during an assassination attempt on Masseria on November 5, 1930. In April 1931, Masseria was murdered in a restaurant by several of his gang members who had defected to Maranzano. Maranzano declared himself the boss of all bosses and reorganized all the New York gangs into five crime families. Maranzano appointed Frank Scalise as head of the old D'Aquila/Mineo gang, now designated as one of New York's new five families. In September 1931, Maranzano was himself assassinated in his office by a squad of contract killers. The main beneficiary (and organizer of both hits) was Charlie "Lucky" Luciano. Luciano kept Maranzano's five families and added a Commission to mediate disputes and prevent more gang warfare. Also in 1931, Luciano replaced Scalise with Vincent Mangano as head of the D'Aquila/Mineo gang, now the Mangano crime family. Mangano also received a seat on the new Commission. The modern era of the Cosa Nostra had begun. Current Mafia Bosses in 2022: All 5 Active Families & Bosses There is no denying that the world of crime offers a cold habitat for its members, its allies, and the outsiders, who are usually the victims of criminal activity. In the past few decades, there have been many crime lords who have come and gone, but their businesses have survived under the control of their protégés. However, in today’s video, we’re gonna tell you about Five Mafia Bosses and about their active families. So, no one knows how many people are in the family yet. However, the FBI estimates there are around 3,000 Italian-American organized crime groups operating in the United States. But surprisingly, not every mafia family has an official boss in 2022. Some families have "acting bosses" or "street bosses" who run things. There are some families that have the same boss for decades, like the Luccheses and Brunos. Occasionally, the real boss has died, been killed, or retired, so it's hard to find out who he is or what his hierarchy is. Let's take a look at some of the most active ones first. And on number one we have, The Nose. Over the past eight years, Michael "The Nose" Mancuso has become the boss of the Bonanno Family. In 2004, Joey Massino became a government witness and belonged to the Bonanno family for a few years before he became the boss. He is now Mancuso's street boss, but he's also serving as underboss. However, in the beginning, Mancuso was in the Purple Gang. Basically, they were Italian enforcers who ran the heroin trade in East Harlem. In fact, the Purple Gang did jobs for the five families, but mostly on their own. And eventually, Mancuso became part of the Bonanno family. And as of 2004, Joe was acting underboss. Nose has a pretty sordid past. He served 10 years for manslaughter when his wife Evelina died. He's been implicated in a few murders, including Bonanno capo Gerlando Sciascia's. He tied Mancuso to that killing with "Big Joe" Massino. Then in 2008, Mancuso was convicted of another murder and sentenced to 15 years. #crime #mob #mafia
The Five Families is the organization of the five major New York City organized crime families of the Italian American Mafia formed in 1931 by Salvatore Maranzano following his victory in the Castellammarese War. Maranzano reorganized the Italian American gangs in New York City into the Maranzano, Profaci, Mangano, Luciano, and Gagliano families, which are now known as the Bonanno, Colombo, Gambino, Genovese, and Lucchese families. Each family had a demarcated territory and an organizationally structured hierarchy and reported up to the same overarching governing entity. Initially, Maranzano intended each family's boss to report to him as the capo di tutti i capi ("boss of all bosses"). However, this led to his assassination that September, and that role was abolished for The Commission, a ruling committee established by Lucky Luciano to oversee all Mafia activities in the United States and serve to mediate conflicts between families. It consisted of the bosses of the Five Families as well as the bosses of the Chicago Outfit and the Buffalo crime family. In 1963, Joseph Valachi publicly disclosed the existence of New York City's Five Families at the Valachi hearings. Since then, a few other crime families have been able to become powerful or notable enough to rise to a level comparable to that of the Five Families, holding or sharing the unofficial designation of Sixth Family.

Michael Franzese was once a capo for New York's Colombo crime family. So, you could say he knows a thing or two about crime families. He joins Glenn to explain why he believes the Biden family fits that bill: “It's so hard for me to sit back and watch what's going on and wonder why this all hasn't been exposed...It's always 'follow the money.'” Franzese also compares the crime he was jailed for to the alleged shell company scheme tied to Hunter Biden: "That's exactly the same thing the Bidens are doing." There’s been little attention paid to the latest “absolutely stunning revelations” into the dealings of the “Biden crime family,” according to Sky News host James Morrow. “I don’t want to get too caught up in the weeds here with the evidence that has been uncovered over the past few days, but three committees investigating the Bidens on Capitol Hill have revealed the following in a new impeachment inquiry memo,” Mr Morrow said. Mr Morrow revealed some of the new revelations revealed in the memo, such as emails were sent instructing FBI agents not to investigate the Bidens for violations of the Foreign Agent Registration Act. “There was more, but there was also this, and this really piqued my interest, given the way knives are out for the Trumps while the protection racket is still running for the Bidens,” he said. Mr Morrow said a memo was also released from a CNN producer, which revealed that Hunter Biden said he expected “all this stuff to go away” once his dad, Joe Biden, became president.
In the 21st century, the Mafia has continued to be involved in a broad spectrum of illegal activities, but the right question would be; Does the Mafia still exist in 2022? While traditional Mafia presence and activities have waned since the late 90s, they still exist today, though they generally keep a low profile. However, in some industries, such as gambling, drugs, restaurants and bars, they still have a significant influence. Let's take a look at some of the business and industries that have historically been controlled by the Mafia and see whether they are still connected today.
