We are in Macau for the first time and going to be exploring the gambling capital of the world for 2 days! In today's video, we are giving you our first impressions of Macau and taking you away from the flashy casinos and going down some more local streets, trying local Macau street food, and seeing what types of adventures we can find while touring the fancy city! Although we do go to some of the tourist spots in Macau like the main European-style plaza by Ruins of St. Paul's and the amazing Grand Lisboa Hotel, we also take our adventures down some of the local neighbors outside the area most tourists go. People out there could not speak English, the streets were tight, and it was an awesome way to experience what the real Macau is actually like. We started off the day in Hong Kong and were able to try some famous food from there. Americans try Hong Kong egg tarts was a big thing we were able to do and other delicious pastries from a very popular local bakery. How to Travel from Hong Kong to Macau: We also show you have to get to Macau from Hong Kong. All we had to do was go down to the Hong Kong ferry terminal and to the Cotai Ferry across the bay. The ferry cost about $25 a person and took around 1 hour. The ferry was comfortable, had free wifi, and was an overall cool experience. Cheapest Hotel in Macau: When we got to Macau we had some trouble leaving the ferry terminal but once we figured it out we headed to our hotel in Macau downtown, the Rio Macau Hotel for $100 a night. The hotel had a nice fancy lobby, the rooms were huge, and the bathroom was massive. Are you looking to go on the Hong Kong to Macau ferry and want to see what the experience will be like? I took the ferry in July 2023. I purchased the Grand ticket which is like a business class. The ferry ride itself takes about and hour to an hour and 10 minutes. The immigration processing on both ends is fast and efficient. The Macau ferry terminal is much nicer and newer than the Hong Kong Ferry terminal. VirtCam is a travel and transportation virtual tour channel. The best place to breathe the history of old Macau is the Largo do Senado Square, the governmental centre from the colonial era. You will find splendid pastel-colored classic buildings, shops, and restaurants with typical southern European architecture. When walking through the old city, we recommend trying local cuisine - it is a unique mixture of Chinese and Portuguese tastes. At a close distance to the square, about 5 minutes by foot, visit the late 16th-century Baroque-style St. Dominic's Church - the oldest church building in the city. This building shows the mixture of European and local Macanese features in its design. The church's high altar features a beautiful statue of the Madonna and Child as the centerpiece and is flanked by wood and ivory-carved statues of several saints. Not afraid of heights? Then you must visit the 338-metre-high Macau Tower. After exploring the streets of Macau all day, we decided to go back out to see the Macau Nightlife in 2023! The lights of the city were amazing and the European-style streets glowed beautifully at night! The next more we also went to the Macau Casino area and visited the world's biggest casino! We started the video off by getting some dinner at a tasty Taiwanese Restaurant near our hotel and then heading out into the Macau Night time streets. We walked around the same areas we did in the day in our previous video. We saw the Grand Lisbon all lit up and the Portuguese streets that were way calmer than we expected. After a chill night out we headed back to the hotel room to do our little segment of Americans Try Chinese Drinks in Macau and got ready for another day of exploration in the morning. The next day we taxied over to what is essentially the Las Vegas Strip of Macau. We didn't realize however that not only did many of these Macau casinos have the same name as Vegas (The Venetian Macau, the Parisian Macau) but that they were also way bigger. The Venetian Macau is actually the largest casino in the entire world! A great day trip from Hong Kong, but easily worth 2 nights Macau is best known as a gambling and shopping mecca, but it also has a really neat historic portuguese center Macau is the only place in China where you can gamble legally. It generates more revenue from gambling than anywhere else on the earth including more than about seven times the revenue generated by “The Strip” in La Vegas 4 main parts… the main part of Macau with the historic Portuguese core. This is called the Macau Peninsula Taipa Cotai Strip Colane 2.
